– Viola and Kalevi Fredin

At LomaLeivo, we are here to welcome you!

Viola – the busy hostess, double grandma who loves children

At LomaLeivo, I organize, source supplies, handle paperwork, and answer the phone. Planning new things, seasonal decorating of the cottages, marketing, and social media are my favorite tasks. Every spring, I practically ‘live’ in the sheep barn, helping the ewes and adorable little lambs come into the world. I love people and all kinds of activities, so I’m in my dream job—no two days are the same, and there’s always something new! I’ll share with you the best places to visit in Joutsa, join you in the mushroom forest, or lend you some entertainment for rainy days—just ask!

Kalevi – the skilled host, proud double grandpa

I especially enjoy building, and over the years, quite a few structures have accumulated—around 30, I think. I’ve built all our cottages, their outbuildings, and terraces from our own timber. I take care of the firewood, water supply, repairs, and maintenance. In the evenings, I dive into genealogy and local history when time allows from my other commitments. If you’re interested in local history, we can chat more on the bench in our old house.

We warmly welcome you to explore our farm, our charming old house, the farm shop, and the sheep who are eagerly waiting for cuddles!

Additionally, you might be greeted in the yard by:

Nöpö – a gentle Finnish Lapphund who also acts as our unofficial spokesperson.

Cats Santtu (red and white) and Miisu (black and white) – you might catch a glimpse of them around the yard.

Ewes, lambs, and rams – in the barn during winter and in the pasture during summer.

Recognize our pets from the pictures!
